Exclusive Worldwide Sales of German Newsreels

Transit Film, a federally owned company, has been appointed to exclusively manage the worldwide commercial sales of German Newsreels from 1889 - 1990 held by the German Federal Archive. These include newsreels from WWI and WWII, newsreels from the Bizone and the Bonn Republic and magazines and documentaries published by the Federal Press Office. Transit Film also exploits its own film stock, which includes federally owned films as well as titles, whose rights Transit Film has acquired.

With an ever expanding online presence, more than 600 hours of footage can already be viewed on the company's digital portal www.transit-digital.de. Already digitised are approximately 150 hours from WWI and, in the coming weeks, the post 1945 newsreels will be completed with the addition of the last 160 hours. Transit Film also plans to digitise WWII content in the future.

The website is now available in English, opening up vast research resources to international archive researches and producers. Since Mai 2015 Transit Film is a member of the Federation of Commercial Audiovisual Libraries, www.focalint.org
A company representative was present at the footageMarketplace Event www.footagemarketplace.com on 20. Mai 2015 in London.
